Song link: Delerium feat Nerina Pallot - Truly

There is ALWAYS a song, I have such a history with music and with songs that just move and inspire me. A little bit of background, this was the gateway song that led me to one of my most FAVORITE female artists of all time, Nerina Pallot. It was like a slippery slope to such songs like "Sophia" and "Real Late Starter"

So Snow White, if there is a character that is my favorite, disney wise-- it is Snow White. I want to believe that I am a Snow White, but I'm not-- I'm more like Alice or Anna from Frozen. But hey, I can dream-- and I can love this character as someone that I wish I could be like. This art also comes from a "If Disney Princess costumes were historically accurate" which also hits the history!nerd in me. But well, this song, it just very much like Snow White, like that hope even though all the odds are stacked against her, she still believes in her happily ever after, and I think that's damn near admirable. So the song was almost a natural choice for this icon!


Song link: Mark Owen - Morning Belle

Mark Owen is my favorite vocalist from Take That and his solo album "The Art of Doing Nothing" is an EXCELLENT song-- so really I can't hype that album up enough, the lyrics are super introspective and yet pretty positive, plus his song-- I absolutely love his voice, and strangely enough other voices that are similar to his doesn't do it for me, it's his exact vocal quality.

This is my FAVORITE picture of Sakura from Card Captor Sakura. Hands down, that is my favorite costume, favorite picture and once upon a time, I had a vision in my mind of an icon set to another song that I sort of associate that picture and that moment with; OMD - Walking on the Milky Way". But as I was creating the icon, the Morning Belle song stuck a little bit more firmly-- because I guess when I first envisioned an icon with that picture-- 10 years ago, I was a very different person and Sakura meant something a little bit different to me. But as we age, we interpet things a little differently, and the tone that I was going for was a little bit more somber then, including the little shadow at the edge (gasp, that shadow at the edge-- is that on purpose?!~?).


Duran Duran - Silver Halo

THIS IS NOT EVEN MY FAVORITE DURAN DURAN SONG! This isn't even in my top ten, or even my top thirty for that matter-- this is probably my least favorite song on that particular album. However it was chosen because it fit Kanda from D.greyman. Because this song just happened to come on while I was making this icon like 10 years ago (this is an ooooooold icon everyone, this is one of Nia's freshman efforts). Kanda is my favorite character from the series, which is almost laughable BECAUSE of all the characters of that time that came out that fit that stereotype, I was ambivalent toward every one. Sasuke, yes-- Ishida, yes. Usually guys like that annoy the shit out of me almost as much as the characters like Naruto and Ichigo do-- it's because the writers are so trying to hard to highlight two opposite ends of the spectrum, that they really do get the fire/ice down, with no real nuances to speak of. But Kanda, I loved Kanda-- because he and Allen sort of fell a little bit on the outlying part of the spectrum.

Does Kanda think he is better then everyone else, yup. Is the song accurate? Probably (in my headspace). And I really love what I did with his lips. (that was when I had first discovered the 'sharpening' tool and how it could make certain parts of a picture stand out-- so that is why his lips look so damn good). #nevergonnastopbeingproudofthat

Heya everyone! As we near the end of May, I am going to open up the floor for an ASK ME ANYTHING.

Anything you are remotely curious about-- involving fandom, RL, favorite characters, songs, pairings, hobbies-- my life is an open book. I will answer it to the best of my knowledge-- And hey! Do the same in your journal, so myself and your friends can ask you questions! Let's get to know each other-- everyone!

In the past couple of days (or perhaps even the past week) we've had an influx of new people to Dreamwidth (way to go LJ, screwing it up-- and after all the great memories that were had, dumb ass russia TOS) so welcome, to all the new friends that I've met on the addme group! (and it's anime subgroup), it's nice to meet many and all of you, and I hope that we shall all be happy friends together!

A brief little introduction-- my name is Nia-- I did my time on LJ from 2001 - 2012 and then I broke up with my ex-girlfriend and just couldn't stand being in that venue anymore, so I moved to DW and have been sort of going back and forth here, fluctuating between periods of activity and inactivity-- this current influx of activity is in part due to an anxiety disorder that I sort of am now realizing is a bit of a problem (I would like to say that it was never there, but I know that I've been using periods of escapism in order to push it under the carpet, not a thing that has been healthy in my life). I am predominately a reader and a gamer (mostly JRPGs, though I've had forays into western styled RPGs when the mood arrives-- I used to make tons of icons, but then I realized that I'm much happier when I make a few icons here and there, and I used to write fics about video games, but well I've lost those voices in my head (or probably a better word is that I have the voices not be so deafening)

So I'm not artsy, I don't watch as much anime as I used to and I ramble-- a lot. I love books, history, cats-- I am just an agnostic, slytherin ENFP with a love for pop and romance novels, who is probably married to my PS4 (much to my boyfriend's chagrin-- but he has no room to complain, he can binge watch entire seasons of reality TV quite happily). Him and myself are currently house-hunting for the perfect house, for our two cats and a kitchen big enough that I can do all sorts of cooking experiments of doom (I can make some badass chocolate chip cookies though)

It's slow going watching anime, I certainly can't slam anime anymore, or do long marathons of video game playing for the mere fact that I have very little time that is disposable.  So I've been making my way episode by episode through Blue Exorcist.    However for as slow as I'm working through it, I'm absolutely and utterly glad that I took the time to watch it.

1. Shiemi is my favorite character in the series and so seeing her in a short skirt was really entertaining, and watching the guy's reaction to it; I'm sort of conflicted because I love her with Rin but I also love her with Yukio, so I think that I may just support both pairings equally. (definitely makes for a great deal of drama.)
2. Mepphyland?  Really?  So now Sir Pheles has an amusement park NAMED after him.  Wow, just wow.
3. Awww Rin asked Shiemi out on a date.   The cuteness is in overload.
4. Wow, just wow.   Bobby McBoob entered the series.   It's like Yoko and Nia from Gurren Laggan all over again.. except Shiemi is a bit more endowed then Nia (and by a little bit, I mean a lot.)

And with that, the episode is done.     I would like to say that I will have another episode watched but my friend Shauna is coming over in which case we are going to watch all of Hetalia and make cupcakes.
