why... why... WHY?

Tech support has given me a new appreciation for the new level of stupidity that people can aspire to. Like I literally talked to someone for 29 minutes who had no clue from his arsehole what the modem was, even though I gave him all of the pertinent information that he needed.

Me: You are looking for an SMC device, it will have the name written on the modem.
him: you mean a AHT?
Me: S. M. C.
Him: well all I can see is this netgear? Is that what you want?
Me: Look for the SMC, it should be hooked up to the netgear.
Him: I can't find it, all I see is this device hooked up to the netgear.. it's a.. ah, SMC.
Me: *INTERNAL SCREAMING LIKE SATAN AT A JONAS BROTHERS CONCERT* (j/k seriously I don't know what Satan's anti-music is tbh, just an uneducated guess)

I was seriously so traumatized that I ended up licking all the salt off my pretzels, like these people are draining me of my salty tears so I have to quickly regenerate new salt!

In happier news, I am going to go to Dragon King's Daughter on saturday with a friend for a girl's nights, then we are gonna go back and toast s'mores. I am pondering discussing with her the possibility of picking up something crafty. I need something that will occupy me in between calls because they have all the GOOD SITES blocked at work, and when I start reading, the little beep in my ear pretty much jars me out of storyland pretty quickly and makes it so I can't get engrossed in the book!

Dragon King's Daughter though, it is MEXICAN/JAPANESE fusion. They have this sushi roll, called The Swanson.. it is crunch shrimp, bacon and chicken (not raw) with spicy mayo and wasabi. That's life right there. Like I could eat two rolls-- seriously. I will see about posting pictures of the yumminess. Promise~

Thank you all who have been signal boosting the Friending Meme; it's been a smashing success-- hurrah for new friends everyone! To all of you that I've added! HIYA! <3 My name is Nia and my pronouns are she/her and I'm probably as mad as a hatter! Don't mind me! Glad to friend you and hope we can be AWESOMEFIENDS!

Another day, another dollar-- and ANOTHER AWESOME STORY!

Welcome to Tales from the Call Center; where the only reason why it's like a Tales Of game is because my skits are pretty much with the Customers.

So it was an early call today that was my awesome call. Someone from Gaitlinberg called about making sure that Block International was set on all their phones in the ten rental cabins they had. So I was like, okay-- can do that. So we started talking about the weather and then he mentioned that he was from Sault Ste Marie and I was like "Oh yeah, heck yeah-- I lived their for 3 years" and then he was like "I was a sea captain up there!" and I was like "OH WOW TELL ME MORE!" so he did, and come to find out, he wasn't just a SEA CAPTAIN-- he was a TREASURE HUNTING SEA CAPTAIN-- like he would research wrecks and then perform cat scans on the ocean floor in order to find treasure. Like, the coolest thing I've ever heard (so far!) and I was super enthusiastic about this, so he was telling me stories about his seafaring life. and he quit the sea because he wanted to see trees and mountains, and that is how he ended up retired in Gaitlinberg, maintaining cabins for tourists.

Treasure-hunting sea captain, that's the stuff of legends-- I don't think I will ever get a phone call from one of those again~! Though I told him that if he ever called in again, I hoped that I would get him (can't guarentee that of course because we have a call routing system that is based on who is the associate in the call center who has had the longest wait time between calls.

I also talked to a fellow FFXIV player, he is actually on the same server as me-- I got his name, told him that if I remembered I would look him up.

It's definitely a small world!

I have so many icons that it is sometimes hard for me to be able to figure out exactly which one I will use for any entry-- today, it will be Utena I suppose. It was a good day, and I definitely feel like I've revolutionized the world-- or at the very least, my life.

Work was awesome and it continues to be awesome. It is nice to go to a workplace where people ask you 'how' you are doing. Like my lead looked over at me in between calls and was like, "Hey Nia-- how you doing today?" and it just made me feel good, because I felt valued as a person-- and I continually feel valued as a teammate. I even had a call that was pretty awesome. It was involving some man's server, and when I caught the call-- he was pretty upset, however not only did I manage to DE-ESCALATE him (he was at a 10, and I got him to about a 3), but he found out that the problem was on his end and he was super OKAY with that.

So at the end he was like "Nia, I'm gonna miss you!", and my response was "Gee Xen, I'm gonna miss you too!". And my lead heard it and was like "Nia, I've taken over 400k calls and never once have I ever heard someone say that they would miss me" and then Chase proceeded to tell my supervisor about what he heard. It was definitely interesting, but it made me feel awesome!

So now, on to the fannish stuff-- compartmentalized because I can do that in a way that I am unable to do that with real life.

+ICONS (have my paintshop up, and a set of icons that I need to do to personally challenge myself)
+TEXTURES (based on opal, from a few opal stock photos)
+Episode 19 of The Ancient Magus Bride-- Elias is so fricking adorable, in fact that entire anime *keyboard smash*
+Finish Ephraim's side of the Let's Place for Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones -- shhh don't judge, too much media-- too little time
+Tales of Vesperia-- have I mentioned I love Raven? Seriously, I love him-- but OH MY GAWD, PATTY TOO ADORABLE JUST UGH!

And just throwing it out there-- for y'all who are new to DW and want some icons, I am currently taking commissions over at [community profile] hiraethe-- so if you like my style, hit me up! I love making icons for friends!

Call of the day on friday was this guy who thought Call Forwarding was the BEST THING EVER! Like, he was totally "How long have we been able to do this call forwarding thing!", and I was like "I don't know, but it sure was a great service" and then he was like "So you mean someone can call my work phone and I can have it forwarded automatically to my cellphone?" and I was like "Heck yea!" and-- I seriously felt like I was santa and it was crazy!great.

And then at the end, he told me that I was such an intelligent girl who definitely knew what I was talking about! Made up for EVERY SINGLE BAD CALL I'VE HAD UP TO THIS POINT!

That is exactly why I go back to work every day, for little moments like that--

Plans for the day-- hit the Vesperia Train hardcore, let's see if we can get to the Sands of Kogorh! <3

Wow, I was very productive on the icon front today. Thank you everyone for participating in the annual "Help Nia clean out her To Be Edited folder" -- of course for every icon that I seem to made, I also seemed to add 3 more pictures to the folder which leads me to believe that my work will never be done. My favorite though was my Eizen icon, that one was probably the best out of the lot of them-- and perhaps the one that was most serendipitous to make.

Side note: [community profile] hiraethe is ALWAYS open for requests, so if you have a request or picture that you'd like me to icon, go ahead and post it over there. Requests have recently re-opened due to the fact that I don't have a stressful job anymore.

Speaking of jobs, I had a funny call yesterday.

Now to preface: We have to AUTHENTICATE everyone if they are making changes to an account-- we also have to AUTHENTICATE anyone if they want to know aspects of their bill (and not just the 'ammount due' - funny though you don't have to be an authorized user to PAY YO BILL though, anyone can do that as long as you get the address right. Also we only have to verify someone to troubleshoot and send a technician out, you don't have to be an auth user to go through troubleshooting steps.

So I had this person that had bought a static IP-- evidentally last week they tried to put the static on the modem however the modem ended up being bad and had to be replaced. The lady calls back and wants the modem configured (which is a change of service and thus NEEDS AUTHETNICATION) so I tell her okay, if I can talk to an authorized user who can give me the security code. So she transfers me to the authorized user...

--Which she picks up, states that she is Mr Waters and she gives me the security code, and then she says she is transferring me back to Kathy (herself) and then she transfers me back, and she picks up again. (note: she did not lower her voice for this; she didn't even try-- I was so disappointed.). I was trying not to laugh, however if the call record is searched out, they will find that I did follow protocol perfectly. Needless to say that she ended up telling me that she would have to wait a half an hour to bring the modem down and that she would call back later. she wanted me to note on the account that Mr. Walters had CPNI'd and she wouldn't have to do that next time. I told her quite happily that Mr. Waters had to CPNI every single time, I didn't tell her that Mr. Waters could add her as an authorized user after CPNI'ing-- I felt that she would of called back immeediately stating that she was Mr. Waters and that she wanted to add herself as an AUTH user. Mr Waters owes me coffee for protecting his account like that.

Tonight I go with my husband to see the new Spiderman movie-- the one with all the spidertheys. I think I'm gonna want pizza at the theater-- or something, idk.
alwaysbeenasmiler: <user name=hiraethe> (Alaiyna☆He's stealing salt skin--)
So totally I got a call from someone. It was involving the fact that he wasn't getting a dial tone, except he was calling in for someone else. So he couldn't CPNI (authorize himself) and then I called the number that he gave me and it was some random person who answered it. So I was like, "Okay"

Then when I started asking him questions, he didn't answer them-- he just asked me questions in response; thereby making me feel like I was falling down the rabbit hole over and over.

Me: Mr. *so and so*, I am going to need to reprovision the phone modem from my end, and that will cause me to take down the modems for the business. Can you please get Mr. *owner of the business on the phone*
Him: Why are you asking me this question? Is this really necessary? Don't you know I'm an engineer?
Me: *inwardly saying "well this conversation suddenly doesn't surprise me"* Outwardly: I understand that you are an engineer however I am going to need to take down the modem to reboot it.
Him: Well I'm going to hang up now.
*he hangs up*

That was just the end of the phone call, it really just was a slippery slope that ended in that. But I did tell him that I couldn't make any changes to his account unless he was authorized.
