So now I have officially jumped on the Voltron: Legendary Defenders: bus, and oh I LOVE IT-- I wasn't too certain three minutes in, but by the end of the first episode, I definitely was feeling it, was feeling the characters and the storyline. Favorite character-- so far, Keith (That is until Lotor enters the picture, that I know he'll be my favorite-- shhh, I just know; I have that intuition where I can just look at a character and go "yep, that's my type of character". Keith just grew on me throughout the episodes though, I think he's just amazing and I want an icon of him post haste-- however due to Pinterest activity last night, I've added three more pictures on my TBIconed list.
I hired someone to make sense of my yard, and now it looks pretty swell. It was affordable and if anything, if I need to have someone come in and trim it up a bit, the guy that I hired was super good so I can always give him a call, I just work so many hours that I find it difficult to do any type of yard work, the last thing I think about when I get home from a 14 hour day is 'my yard'. And on the weekend, I'd rather veg out.
Wednesday evening started Ramadan. If there is anyone on my flist observing Ramadan-- please be safe during this time of fasting and spiritual cleansing. Husband has started his fasting, though this is the first time we were married during his Ramadan so we can actually sleep in the same bed during this month. Normally Ramadan hit and I would sleep in his bed and he would sleep on the couch whenever I came over. But I do love breaking his fast with him, because he does it so carefully and methodically-- and there is that sigh of gratefulness as he takes his first bite of whatever food he is eating-- and I know that is in it's own way a prayer to his Allah for the food he can consume.
I've always thought of Ramadan as a month of gratefulness-- It is abstaining so that you can know true gratefulness for everything you've been given, gratefulness for the first kiss of your significant other, gratefulness for the first sip of water or the taste of food. I usually try to fast with him a few days out of the month, just to show my support and solidarity. It is definitely a humbling expirience.
Well, I guess it's that time to head into work-- :( I will be around for comments throughout the day, as DW is always open on my work computer, just downsized. However when I get home after 6PM approximately, I will be spending the evening with Owen. So I hope y'all have a great day!

18/5/18 16:35 (UTC)Lotor is quite a neat character too: I loved when he showed up and the amount of depth and analytical insight you can attach to him and his actions. :) Seriously, the characters are all great. ♥
...I do admit to the fact that certain aspects of the fandom scare the crap out of me, but I've learned how to avoid a lot of the unpleasantness and have found some really nice, very respectful people who also enjoy the series that I can gush with about it to my heart's content. I hope that will remain true for you too, my friend! :D
I can totally understand what you mean in regards to yard work. I would much rather veg out when home on the weekends too. It is awesome that you found someone who can help you out in that department when you need it to make things easier! :D
I hope that your husband has a safe and meaningful experience observing Ramadan this year. It is quite awesome that you fast with him for a few days during this time too to show your support, and you have shown a very incredible understanding of and respect for what it means to observe Ramadan in your words here.
Have a great rest of the day too! ♥

18/5/18 17:16 (UTC)I look forward to diving into the fandom-- but gently, because honestly-- I don't want to bastardize it-- but the characters oh my gosh the characters, I think they are all fantastic, I don't even know why I didn't start watching this sooner. ALL OF THEM ARE SO GOOD!

18/5/18 21:21 (UTC)Keith is pretty great. I love them all? Hunk is my favorite, I'd say, but Lance and Pidge are really up there... Just, jeez, they're all good characters. (Although I feel fairly apathetic towards Allura.)
Good for you with the yard thing! That sounds like it was a satisfying experience.
I must admit to not being very familiar with Ramadan, so reading your take was quite interesting. And inspiring, really; a good focus on gratitude is something I'm always trying to keep in mind. May your husband's fasting be safe!
