Okay so I'm back, and I'm married. Can you believe that?
My last update was in June, right? That was a while ago in all honesty. The update was about the new house and my engagement and all that fun stuff that falls somewhere into major hardcore adulating. So y'all might want to grab yourself some popcorn and maybe a soda or two because this here's gonna be the wildest ride in Kentucky, yeehaaaw! (Honeymoon in Disneyworld, you can't blame me for wanting to rip off the great Thunder Mountain, right?)
Well last summer, I was experiencing deep job burn-out (now before you go, 'Nia, did you switch jobs again', I did-- but I still work at the same company). I applied for a lead of LTL but thankfully I did not get that job, but in October, a position for Order Control came up, and lo and behold, I decided to take it.
Of course I rue the day I did that but that's for another story and another post.
Luckily it got me off my feet constantly though the tradeoff is that my eyes will probably start dying even faster then they already are-- staring at computer screens all day. I also inherited a loveable distaste for my deskmate (even though previously we were friends, I just wasn't aware of how OCD she is, and how she loves to PICK AND PICK at people's mistakes.) It got me out of the way of Stalcup, and while I don't work on shift with my husband anymore (OH GOD HUSBAND, I SAID IT OH MY GOD HARD TO BELIEVE)
But you guys are probably like, "Work is boring! Get to the good stuff!"
Well, Owen and I set the wedding for March 9th, 2018. My reasoning was that it was my grandmother's birthday, a day that I feel pretty wretched on, being that I remember her the most fondly on that day, and yes there is probably a bit of grieving that goes along with that as well. (Think Tidal Wave of Grief (tm), you see it coming and you try to prepare but it hits you like a 10 TON truck of bricks) But I was like, hey, let's get married that day, and I know for sure that she'd be there at the ceremony, so it was my way of honouring her. So we got a cabin in Gaitlinberg for the weekend, invited our close friends and family and had a wonderful little ceremony that was unique and cost me less then $1,000 (that is including the Cabin and a fabulous pancake breakfast.) The cabin was swank, I mean it was nice and fit the wedding party nicely even though like most cabins, it was up there where the mountains meet the sky, which is nice until you have to DRIVE TO WHERE MOUNTAINS MEET SKY).
We did the basics, the Aquarium of the Smokies, we did some local restaurants, some shopping, we went to Walmart, and I wanted to do the Dinosaur River adventure but that never happened. *don't worry, I got my Dinosaur River adventure fix at Universal Studios a few days later). Then sunday, Owen and me, the newly minted Nia Meredith, made our way down to Florida for UNIVERSAL and DISNEY. We did stop at Del Taco and I got my Shrimp Tacos on, and there was much rejoicing by all.
The main allure of Universal was of course Harry Potter World.
Here are some highlights:
1.) Being first in line at Ollivanders (and opening up my wand box after purchase to see that the handle was in the shape of a skull, yup-- fitting)
2.) Lavender/Earl Grey Ice cream. OH GODS YES, BEST FOOD PART OF TRIP
3.) Getting stuck right at the top of Dudley Do-Right's Log Flume (and hearing Owen say, "Are you fucking kidding me?" *he never curses)
4.) Owen's face in the middle of The Mummy coaster, where they take your picture. He totally was not expecting it and that is what made his face so hilarious.
5.) One of the workers of the Simpson's Ride line telling a teenager to "Put her phone away and enjoy life"
6.) E.T saying "Nia and OWWWWN" at the E.T ride.
Wednesday we hung out with someone that was my best friend in Jr. High, oh the stories that were told about my dorky self.
Thursday and Friday was spent at Disney's Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.
Highlights.
1.) Yak and Yeti Restaurant
2.) Alchoholic Dole Whip
3.) All Cast Members commenting on my Stitch and Koalas T-shirt.
4.) Getting Owen hooked on Dole Whips
5.) Getting stuck on the Dinosaur Ride for a few minutes (Hey, that's not part of this ride!)
6.) THE ANIMALS
7.) Fast Pass for the Kilamajaro Safari.
--
1.) Disney Buffet Breakfast at Crystal Palace (and Tigger wanting the picture with Owen lol)
2.) Crying at the Enchanted Tiki Room
3.) Haunted Mansion-- so many memories
4.) More Dole Whips
5.) Not having to wait 2 hours for Peter Pan's flight (whooohoo fast pass)
6.) Fireworks over The Seven Dwarves Mine Train
Okay time for me to go, but I am so glad to be back-- if only for a week or maybe a few months.

11/4/18 23:23 (UTC)People are asking me all the time. "How does it feel"
And me and Owen are like "It feels exactly the same"
Except for the little giggle I get when I call for him saying "Husband!"

12/4/18 00:28 (UTC)I felt that way too and we didn't live together before either. Still was the same all around just legal perks to go with it.
