Today into work, I wore this Splash Mountain T-shirt, pretty blue with the mountain in a circle and underneath it says "The Laughing Place". True Disneyland/world geeks will get it, and I saw it on Teepublic and I really just needed it like I needed life. But because I'm wearing it, I'm feeling a bit introspective.
I think that my work life can be summed up in the following:
In "Splash Mountain" you are following the adventures of Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear. They are roaming the countryside having a good old time, lots of singing and dancing animals. However they are chased after by Brer Fox and friends-- they manage to get Brer Rabbit into a tar pit and then they are going to throw them into the briar patch. The ride follows this theme, and so as you are climbing up to the big drop-- two vultures drop down and go "Everyone has their happy place, I guess you've found yours.. ahahahahaha" *cue the ominious laughing from which can only be construed as the peanut gallery.
They you go down the drop and into the briar patch.
Work is a lot like that, except there is no singing and dancing at the end-- just two vultures assuring me that I've found my laughing place, and a large drop into a bunch of pointy things that make you cry.
