Today I am going to go on a different less serious tangent, so today I am going to focus on "Favorite Female Characters from RPGs".

As y'all know, I am very much in love with the RPG genre, and I've been in love with it since the beginning of time it seems-- and I've already enumerated by top favorite men in the RPG genre, so now it's time for me to give the ladies their due desserts as well. There are also a really awesome strong minded ladies in that series, not just love interests and not just kidnap fodder (No, I am not referencing Rosa-- on my 3rd playthrough of FFIV is when I finally started to appreciate the white mage, and I think she is a wonderful example of a supportive nurturing healer who also happens to be the love interest of the main character, and yes-- she was kidnapped many times, but hey-- Kain was too so we can't be calling names here)

10. Rose (Tales of Zesteria)

I did not expect to love Rose as much as I did-- usually when I look at artwork for a new up and coming game, I can look at the character art and go "I am going to like THAT character", and initially it was Lailah from the game that I thought I'd really like-- but whelp, it ended up being Rose. She is just such a complex character, and her motivations are pretty unique-- and I love how they portray her as predominately an 'unbeliever', very pragmatic and practical-- also I think that they did her great justice in Alisha's after side-story.

9. Rydia of Mist (FFIV)

This is a long line of really awesome little girls that can kick a lot of butt-- like, they are barely into their heroine career and yet look at them, representing as much as the older ladies! Rydia has the extra function of growing up in the game, but not growing up because I still think she still has to emotionally catch up with everyone (especially when it comes to our favorite Eblan Ninja tm). But hey, she's able to cast Meteo and she learns it super vast, not to mention she gets to live in the Land of Summouned Monsters and call Ashura and Leviathian her parents-- how cool is that. Yes she had a tragic backstory but she proved that you can pick up the pieces and soldier on.

8. Rosa Farrel (FFIV)

What, Rosa is before Rydia, what gives? Well to preface this, circa before 2015 I was pretty much "ROSA IS NOT A GOOD CHARACTER" and nothing could convince me otherwise, but on my third party I had this epiphany where Rosa really isn't a bad character-- and for the time that she was created, she definitely does work with the group, she is the mother figure, the support system and when Rosa goes, everything also seems to really go bye bye and it doesn't seem to come back until she rejoins the party. My love for Rosa was slow coming but definitely earned.

7. Alisaie (FFXIV)

As much as I dislike her brother Alphinaud, I really really love her-- I love how pragmatic she is and I think that she really did shine in Stormblood-- not to mention she was the one who pretty much introduced the Red Mage job in her arc, so much love there. I will always fangirl Alisaie, I think-- and I cannot wait to see how she grows and develops (I hope that ShadowBringers is kind to her, that is what I'm getting at)

6. Patty Fleur (Tales of Vesperia)

I LOVE PATTY! I didn't know I would love her much as I ended up loving her, in fact the first time I played Tales of Vesperia, I definitely feel like my experience was lacking drastically, yet another tiny tot heroine who is completely awesome in her own right, and sassy to boot. She has made this second playthrough of Vesperia a pleasure and I will eventually get around to iconning her-- but oh my gosh, the love for her knows know bounds.

5. Maria Balthasar (Xenogears)

You are sensing a pattern here probably, all my favorite female characters are pretty much precocious kids. Maria's backstory as well as the eventually opening up of herself to the rest of the party is what makes her a favorite character, though her steampunk designs are also pretty awesome. Her cameo in Xenosaga was also amazing, I loved the homage to her in general, and it is one of those situations where post-game, I hope that she went on to do great things with robotics and nanotechnology.

4. Magilou Maevyn (Tales of Beseria)

This is an example of a character that I knew I'd love. It was her colorful persona as well as her pointy ears (not to mention I like the harlequin style which her outfit is a throwback to). Boy was I proved right, I love her-- I love that she starts out as the comedic relief, but more importantly I love how the story makes her more than that.. and her backstory is almost tearjerking, but admirable is the way that she deals with it.

3. Estelle Bright (Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky)

WHAT IS NOT TO LOVE ABOUT ESTELLE? She is too loud, she is too bold, she speaks her mind, she takes up space and eats a lot. the epitome of modern feminism, and that is why I love her-- because of those qualities. (I want to play the game in Cold Steel where a more grown up Estelle happens, please come out soon!). It is one of my newer game series to play but that doesn't make me love Estelle any less, and it was the effusive amount of initial yes that placed her so high up on the list so fast.

2. Leia Rolando (Tales of Xilla)

This girl here is MY SPIRIT animal. Her and #1 are pretty much a combination to make me as an individual, and I love the both of them because I can see both of them in me completely, with Leia she follows in the footsteps of too loud and too bold. Cheerful yet she takes no crap from anyone, all of them are stellar traits-- also I love how she is willing to fight anyone-- and more importantly she is willing to fight for friendship.

1. Relm Arrowny (FFVI)

THIS WAS A NO BRAINER! when writing this list, I put her right at the forefront because I just identify with her so much on so many levels. First of all canonically she shares my b-day of 9/9. Also, the scene with her and Ultros-- it SLAYED me. How she puts everyone in their place slays me as well-- like Edgar, she calls him out on his shenanigans, Sabin, she calls him out on his as well-- like how can you not love that? Forget tortured artist, let's have a sassy kid artist over here-- one who can put a purple octopus in it's place
