One of the things that I like to do at work is listen to Audiobooks, there's a site that I go to that has tons of books available to listen to. Granted, I also like to listen to music but sometimes I need some sort of mental image for my mind to grasp onto and audiobooks do just that. And currently I'm listening to the "Abhorsen" series by Garth Nix. Guess who it's narrated by?

.. Tim fucking Curry.

I have this thing for british voices. Cultured british voices and they just make me melt. In fact I pretty much think that my sexuality can fall adeptly into 'britosexual' for the mere fact that a beautiful british voice makes my vagina smile.

Yeah, I did just say that.

So now if anyone talks to me I can go "excuse me, can you repeat yourself.. I cannot hear you over the sound of Tim Curry's voice". There are people in this warehouse though that would understand completely and totally.

I had to read Lolita in a pretty short period of time for a class, so I'd listen to it on audiobook while stuck in traffic. I was easily distracted from the whole "I'm reading about a pedophile" thing because Jeremy Irons was narrating.

Oh man, I love that series already and now it's just even better. My friend introduced it to me years ago and I still re-read it when I can.

Haha, I kind of figured since you already mentioned you were listening to the audio book for the first time (you were probably too old for when it first came out, considering it was old when I read it in college), but it's good to hear they got such an amazing person as its reader. I'll have to look it up.

omg, I love that series and think that Tim Curry would be the PERFECT narrarator for that!

What do you do for work? I wish I could listen to audiobooks all day! I've only recently gotten in to listening to audiobooks, and found that I actually find it super relaxing.

He also voiced one of the characters in one of my favourite old old games. It was a bit of a shock. XD

He voiced the title character in Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. It's an old Sierra game (and Sierra's now defunct, if I recall correctly, which tells you how old it is) - point and click adventure back in the heyday of the adventure genre. Wiki tells me it was released in '93, so, uh. Still one of my favourites, though - very noir. ♥

It's got two sequels, too! I liked the second, but the third is a bit off. I need to finish the third though... Although, I admit, I'm a fan of the point-and-click adventure genre. (Says the person who got a whole pile of old LucasArts games in her Steam account because Monkey Island and The Dig and the Indiana Jones games _ )
