1. Comment on this entry saying Rhubarb!, and I'll pick three things from you profile interests. If you don't have any listed, link your intro post or tags, and I'll choose three of your fandoms or other interests you've mentioned.

2. Make a post in your journal or comment here and talk about the word and phrases I picked!

And [personal profile] pegasuswrites wanted me to explain the following of my interests

ancient history

In school, history was always one of my favorite classes and also in history it was either American History or Ancient History-- and I don't know why european history really got lumped into Ancient Civilization, but in our textbook it did. I've always loved ancient civilizations though, especially considering how very close civilizations in the past was close to their god/gods/goddesses. As far as european history goes, there had always been a reliance on the afterlife but it was more geared in a secular way-- whereas ancient history, their entire lives revolved around who or what they worshipped. Yeah, there was a greater pantheon to worship but I think that life was probably simpler back when the priests didn't fear technology or books and what it could do to religion.

CLAMP

CLAMP is a group of manga authors/illustrators who have made such wonderful pieces such as CARD CAPTOR SAKURA & X/1999 (the dichotomy is great!). I loved CLAMP ever since Card Captor Sakura, and I stuck with them through all sorts of things, be it X/1999.. the Fai/Kurogane pairing debate and the "HEY MAKE 10 MILLION DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF SAKURA AND CALL IT A DAY". I still love CLAMP even though they are notorious for not finishing what they started-- they finished RG Veda, and that's enough for me.

regency romance

I love romance trash, but I love VERY SPECIFIC GENRE ROMANCE TRASH. That is the novels that are set in the Regency Period (think Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" era. Called the Regency because that was when Mad King George's son was regent. In most Regency romances, the terms 'cravat' and 'pelisse' and thrown around literally and figuratively like Tinkerbell throws around fairy dust. It usually involves social classes and the aristocracy (you best believe I know the difference between a Duke and a Viscount--) and in a world where most families marry their daughters to the highest bidder, the regency romance lends romance to it with daring dukes, wicked hellions and lots and lots of love matches. (And a lot of Regency Romance writers are highly feminists-- take Lauren Willig, Julia Quinn and Christina Milan).

Alright woohoo, completed! Feel free to comment and I'll pick something out of your user info!

Also, I like CLAMP a lot, too! Their art is just so pretty! I don't care if things are canon or not, that's never stopped me!

Rhubarb is more vegetable than fruit. You eat the stalks of the plant. (It has huge leaves!) Only the red parts. The rest is actually poisonous - because humans are weird and work out they can eat part of a thing and live.

I don't care for it. But many of my in-laws do. Lots of crumbles and pies made with it when it's in season.
