This week's challenge over at lands_of_magic is comm recs. I am a social creature and I love communities, I think that there is a plethora of really great communities out there. I love to icon, it's one of my favorite things in the whole world and I eternally strive to get better and better at it. There are a few people who are motherfking inspirations to me in the icon realm, and I'm gonna drop it right here because sharing the love ROCKS!

inconformista : this is my twinsie - carisma_sensei's icon journal and it is super amazing! She mainly does layouts, but the icons that she does are totally rad! (we really should bring back the word 'rad', because it's well, RAD.). She is behind such icons as the animated 'teletubbies' icons that I love so much and you'd have to tear out of my cold stiff hands. Go check her out, because well I have nothing but absolute awe and respect for her work!
icontalking : this is a great comm for people who are wanting to improve their work. They hold challenges that you don't really vote on but are meant to sort of exercise your skills, there are many techniques I've learned that I've gotten over there.
nexticon : It is a one-icon pass it on challenge. There is voting, but the purpose is that you icon something that is inspired by the last icon that was posted-- and it doesn't even have to be specific, a blue background reminds you of a character from a series? go for it-- creativity after all only has the bare minimum guardrails
smallbatchicons : this is a place you can get all your small batch icons! It's also ideal for people who me who don't really do the 40+ icons, because I can post whatever paltry ammount of icons I just cranked out and leave it at that, and also as I said-- many talented iconists post there regularly!
beautifulmechanical : this is not an icon community, this is a music community. It is all about sharing whatever music it is that you are feeling at the time and it's a great place to discover music that you may not have known about. Last month they did a 90s theme where everyone posted there favorite 90s jams. Please join this community, your ears will love it!
gospelle : another talented iconist, rinoa_heartilly posts her work here, also worth a look up-- her style is very pristine and ethereal and shee does a lot of Final Fantasy based icons!
hiraethe - My icon community, don't really have anything to add about it except come check it out and LAUGH because I overuse the red blobs on ALL my icons!
